Peer Lending Circles
PARO
Peer Lending
Circles are groups of 4-7 women who are in business, are
prospective entrepreneurs, or believe in women helping women.
Circles provide peer support, the opportunity to access and
share business knowledge as well as a variety of perspectives and
experience. Circle
members also have access to small business loans.
If
you would like to learn more about
PARO
’s Peer Lending Circles, please
contact Pam at now@paro.ca.
Pam
and Laura M have started calling Circle Members to update the
information that we have in our database about the members and the
circles. Please be
patient with us as we make our way through the list.

Resources for You
Volunteer
specialists asking "Who Cares?"
Linda Graff and
Paul Reed, two leading experts on volunteerism in
Canada
, have put out a compelling new
call over the internet. They want all Canadians to become more
aware of the threat to our communities that is posed by the
declining number of volunteers across the country.
In
Canada
, 67% of all volunteer work is
done by just 5% of people, and those numbers are continuing to
become even more lopsided. The Reed-Graff Conversations explore
the data and ask the important question: "Who Cares?"
The
website includes a terrific series of audio conversations and
supporting text documents that highlight the issue and offer
suggestions for how communities can begin to tackle it together.
Take part in the conversation yourself, and share it with
leaders in your community. The website is at: www.canadawhocares.ca
Do
you have an elevator speech?
This short description of one’s business, program, or
one’s self is a requisite tool whether you are an entrepreneur,
a salesperson, starting out in business, seeking partners, or
seeking employment; whether you are selling an idea, an existing
product or service, a project, or one’s self.
An elevator speech is a concise, consistent, and
benefit-focused description of a new product or service.
You
never know when you will run into someone who you need to tell
about your business in a short period of time.
It always pays to be prepared.
Interest
rates
are a mystery to many Canadians. How are they set? What makes them
go up and down? Why are there so many different rates? What effect
do they have on our dollar? What impact do they have on our
lifestyle? What’s going to happen to interest rates in the
future? How do they affect
Canada
’s economy?
When
you think about it, many activities in our lives are affected by
interest rates. They have an impact on our standard of living, our
mortgages, and the type of car we can afford, our savings and
investments, how we’ll live in our retirement years and our tax
situation. You get the picture.

Time-Management
Ideas
-
Start your day 1 hour earlier than
everyone else. You want a competitive edge? This is it.
-
DECIDE to take control of your game. Make
your own rules for the strategies you'll need to manage
your time.
-
TAKE ACTION: What are 3 things you've been
procrastinating about doing this week? Get them done over
the next hour. Do it. :)
-
Lastly, USE Technology, ONLY WHEN it saves
you time or produces a positive equity gain in your life
or business.
