Networking
on the Move! PARO on Wheels’ first
Tele-Learning session took place this week, in partnership with Superior
North Community Futures Development Corporation in Networking and Peer Circles PARO’s
goal is to grow the number of
women's networking groups in the region through technology and through
meeting with you. Peer Circles
are a great way for women in business or thinking of getting into
business, to create networking opportunities and have access to small
business loans, in stages from $1000 to $5000. During the next few weeks
we will be working with groups in the Sioux Lookout area on PARO
Centre for Women’s All Regions are Welcome to Participate Whether
you live in a small Northern Community, Reserve or “in between”
populated areas, PARO doesn’t believe in distance being a barrier with
our Northern Opportunities for Women Program, so we will find a way to
“connect” women to resources and to each other. We spread our wings and visited Wawa this week as well. What a great place with all those geese! We also had the opportunity to meet with Michipicoten First Nation about becoming active with their women entrepreneurs in the near future. So, as you can see, we are actively seeking all types of connections, and would welcome your request for a visit to your community. Visit Wawa on Line We invite you to visit our partner’s home sweet home through their website http://www.edcwawa.ca and see for yourself what a fabulous community it really is. Upcoming in the Region… Look
for PARO on Wheels in Dryden and Kenora in December!!
PARO on Wheels will be holding workshops and tele-learning
sessions in partnership with Job Connect in Dryden on December 5th,
and on December 6th in Kenora, in partnership with The
Northwest Business Centre. Until
next week….
Sandra
E. Wiggins,
Let’s take a moment to consider a great way to accelerate your business that is sometimes overlooked - concentrating on relationships. Women tend have a natural inclination towards nurturing relationships, but sometimes forget to also apply this skill to business acquaintances. Ronna Lichtenberg, drawing from hundreds of interviews with successful business people, has provided a set of 9 relationship principles that can assist in advancing your career/business. Principle #1: ALWAYS REMEMBER IT PAYS TO BE PERSONAL[1]. The
incorporation of both the head and the heart into business dealings is
essential. Building
positive relationships will also build a positive culture within and
around your business-attracting existing customers and new potential
customers. “There are very few people who can get through life based on their brilliance and their top performance that can ignore relationships. And if they do, you don’t wanna know ‘em anyway.” – Jeff Maurer Keep an eye out for the remaining 8 principles on the PARO Link! PARO’s advanced Business
Accelerator program provides a flexibility of workshops,
mentoring, business counseling, web and tele-classes to women who are
already established in their businesses but want to ‘grow a little or
shift a lot’. This program
builds knowledge, skills, capacity, confidence and resilience as a
business owner, and each participant’s program is specially tailored
to suit their needs. Contact
accelerator@paro.ca to find out
how the program can benefit your business. [1] Lichtenberg, Ronna. It’s Not Business, It’s Personal. Copyright 2001 by Ronna Lichtenberg.
