North Shore: 218-387-2919
Twin Cities: 612-789-2255

Taking leaps...Debra Mueller left hospital based nursing in the '70s to skate professionally in the European Holiday On Ice show. Returning to nursing in the '80s and in 1991 she once again chose to leave a secure executive position, with International Medical Recruiters of America, to manage/book
and promote performing and recording artist, Michael Monroe.

In 1996, they honored their love of natural surroundings and bought a small log cabin on the North Shore of Lake Superior...which evolved into solar powered MisTree studio, where they live and create in harmony with nature.

Her natural love of the environment, energy and enthusiasm has attracted artistic (bead/pottery/watercolor/eclectic) and musical clients, wishing to enhance their presence in various markets, without compromising their values.  In addition, Debra's "risk taking and intuitive approach" to life has I inspired clients who are feeling compelled to leave their 20+ year careers in retail, resort, hospitality/sales behind them.

Coaching clients find the "daring edge", add value and fulfillment to their lives and enhance their innate ability to create their own dream. Debra maintains a part time coaching practice from the North Shore/Twin Cities locations taking advantage of the portability and flexibility of coaching where clients are encouraged to design the relationship and schedule- creativity is welcomed!

Northern Opportunities for Women: “NOW”

A Regional Outreach and Awareness Development Initiative

NOW has just returned from the first trip to Atikokan, Fort Frances , Kenora, Dryden and Red Rock. We have met with potential partners in the region, provided information about PARO and the services that we provide, and met with some of our PARO Peer lending Circle members. We are very encouraged by the positive response, and extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for taking time to meet with us. We look forward to expanding these partnerships.

This month, PARO’s NOW Project representative will be attending a workshop organized by the Income Security Advocacy Centre and the Thunder Bay Economic Justice Committee. This workshop will discuss recent changes in Ontario ’s social assistance programs. We will keep you updated on news or information on issues and regulations affecting women and their families.

Here’s some great information for women who are differently-abled. The Canadian Society for Social Development invites you to visit www.ibde.ca to explore the world of self-employment through website opportunities. The site is also of interest to entrepreneurs with disabilities. We encourage you to also visit the Business Abilities Website, www.businessabilities.ca to learn more about how you may be eligible to take courses and upgrade your computer skills.

If you want to start a PARO Circle , or if you have some ideas on how the NOW project can continue bringing PARO’s services to you locally and regionally, please contact sandraw@paro.ca or ldiamond@paro.ca.

Look at us NOW. We look forward to meeting you!

NOW is a new project at PARO, provided in partnership with the North Superior Training Board and designed to bridge the gap to employment and training for women in the Northwestern Ontario region.  This project is funded by the Trillium Foundation.

You are welcome to attend the

“Northern Opportunities for Women” Press Conference

Connecting You to a Fit and healthy Lifestyle...

When you feel the urge to exercise, do you lie down until the urge goes away? If so, read on for the kick in the butt that you so desperately need!

Most people are aware that exercise burns calories, raises metabolism and develops lean muscle mass, which raises metabolism further. What most people don’t realize is that the benefits of exercise are mental as well as physical. Exercise helps relieve tension and stress, which why you feel less tired afterward than before. And when people exercise, they generally feel better about themselves, especially when they’re zipping the zipper that hasn’t zipped in awhile!

Think about it. You’ve probably never heard anyone leaving the gym, tennis court or cross-country ski trail saying “I wish I hadn’t done that!”

Make it an excellent week! Get up and get going!

Health Minute

The Mirror Maybe Lying...

Do you see yourself as fat or frumpy? Blame it on your brain.

Here's why: Your brain routinely maps your body using visual cues and signals from your skin, joints, and muscles. But snags in this system can distort the image and make you mentally overestimate or underestimate your actual body size. So if you want an objective view of your body, don't rely on only your eyes; use your bathroom scale and the way your clothes fit as well.
