SUCCESS

PARO`and the NOW Program helps you set the stage for balance in your business and in your personal life.

This week, PARO on Wheels held 2 successful workshops in Kenora and in Atikokan.  We would like to thank each  of you who came out, and ask you to pass the word along in your communities and attend our next session with a friend.

PARO on Wheels not only brings you Business Experts in many areas of starting, running and growing a business, but provides you with Networking opportunities to see your potential in the job sector through resources from PARO, our partners, and through what you can accomplish with a  business of your own. PARO on Wheels brings to you support services, and we can help link you up with supportive organizations, groups and individuals to help you in your personal life.

Starting a business in a small community may seem like a pipe dream, but we can tell you from our years of experience that it can be a rewarding reality, as was presented in our last series of workshops “Exploring your Entrepreneurial Potential”.  Use our events as Networking opportunities to share and exchange experiences with each other, while learning from others’ successes and mistakes. Soon we’ll be announcing our next series of “Business Works” workshops happening in your area.  Each time we go out, we incorporate ideas and suggestions that participants have given us, so we are meeting your needs with the content of the workshop, and ensure the information presented is relevant to you. One on one coaching is always available, whether you are thinking of going into business for yourself, need help with personal or business finances or need information on a contact number to help you with a life challenge and changes you may be facing.  It’s a holistic approach and it’s for Women.

Here is a website link from Service Canada on Worker’s Rights.  Given what we are facing with large employers challenges, this information could answer some questions you may have.

Connecting You to a Fit and healthy Lifestyle...

I didn’t fall off the planet - I just love long weekends!! So good first Tuesday of July Morning!

This little blurb comes from You the Owner’s Manual – and it reiterates why it is so important to read labels and why we as a nation are getting chubbier and chubbier!!

Hold the syrup!

Your digestive system has two main hormones that control hunger and appetite.  Ghrelin is secreted by the stomach and increases your appetite. When your stomach’s empty, it sends ghrelin in out requesting food Leptin tells your brain that you’re full. When you eat, your fat cells secrete it so that you stop eating. One of the biggest evil influences on our diet is the presence of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), a sugar substitute that itself is a sugar found in soft drinks and many other processed foods. The problem is that HFCS inhibits leptin secretion, so you never get the message that you’re full. And it never shuts of ghrelin so, even though you have food in your stomach, you constantly get the message that you’re hungry. The double whammy on our hormones has contributed enormously to our collective enormity. When you consider that many North American women will often obtain as much as 50 percent of their daily calories from salad dressing (which contains HFCS), you can see the problem. While food manufacturers may eliminate fat, they make up for its taste with sugar and HFCS – which are simply empty calories that serve no nutritional purpose.

Through sleep, your brain also plays a role in gut functions. If you want to eat less, get more sleep. When you don’t sleep enough, more ghrelin is secreted and less leptin is released. So lack of sleep can have the same effect as HFCS by causing you to eat more.

Make it an excellent day! Read the nutritional labels on the food you consume and then…. Get up and get going!

PS:  As an aside – Running Room is offering a free clinic to survivor’s of breast cancer – to learn to run/walk and prepare them to participate in the CIBC Run for the cure. I will be instructing the clinic in Thunder Bay and it begins on Wednesday, Aug 2, 2006 and runs for 10 weeks. The first 10 people to register will receive this free clinic – if there is enough interest, there may be more allowed to participate. If you are not in Thunder Bay , but have a Running Room in your area check it out to see if your store is offering this opportunity.

Two of my Mom’s sisters died of breast cancer – Darlene was 36 and Beth was 53 – so I am very excited to participate in this clinic.

If you or someone you know is a survivor and would like to participate – they should register at the Running Room directly as there is no on-line registration for this clinic.

Can You Spare Some Time?

 Dear Friends

Can you spare some time to help us out?

We need reviewers for some of the content of reNeW Northwest magazine.  Before publishing the magazine this fall, we would like your opinion of a few of the articles we’ve planned to include.

We are looking for a ½ hour of your time to read some of the articles and answer a brief survey.  If you feel you or any other women you know would like to take a sneak peak at some of the content, send me an e-mail at info@breasthealthnw.ca   Include your name and e-mail address.

Once the articles are ready, you will be sent a link to a website where you will find the sample articles and survey.

Your opinions will help make reNeW Northwest a success!

All About YOU...

Three eye-opening factoids from the RealAge doctors . . .

First, when it comes to your eyes, Popeye trumps Bugs Bunny. Although carrots are good for your eyes, they're not as powerful as spinach. Research shows that more protective benefits come from the lutein found in spinach than the beta carotene found in carrots. That's what's up, doc. More . . .

RealAge Benefit: Actively patrolling your health can make your RealAge as much as 12 years younger.

"Anything can be achieved in small, deliberate steps. But there are times you need the courage to take a great leap; you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

POSITIVE QUOTE :  "Your thought is easily influenced by the presence of another soul; a person can be completely free only when that person  is alone."

DAILY MOTIVATION :  Subject: Stress Management

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight does not matter.

It depends on how long you try to hold it.

If I hold it for a minute, that is not a problem.

If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm.

If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance.

In each case, it is the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

He continued, "And that is the way it is with stress management.

If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we will not be able to carry on. "

As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again.

When we are refreshed, we can carry on with the burden."

"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down.

Do not carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow.

Whatever burdens you are carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can."

So, my friend, why not take a while to just simply RELAX.

Put down anything that may be a burden to you right now.

Do not pick it up again until after you have rested a while.

Life is short. Enjoy it!

Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

* Drive carefully. It is not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.

* If you cannot be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

* Never buy a car you cannot push.

* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you will not have a leg to stand on.

* Nobody cares if you cannot dance well. Just get up and dance.

* Since it is the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

* The second mouse gets the cheese.

* When everything is coming your way, you are in the wrong lane.

* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

* We could learn a lot from crayons.

Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull.

Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today......I did.

Have a safe and Happy Canada Day,
